Happy Friday! This week was one of those weeks that felt like five months. I don’t know why – we didn’t even have school Monday! (teacher meetings and work day) but it just kept going like the Energizer Bunny on and on and on…. speaking of which, is that bunny still a thing?
I am linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching for Five for Friday! Have you linked up yet?
Here are some highlights from this week!
I finally got Math Daily 3 up and running (ok walking… limping… I am trying) in my classroom! I reread the newest edition of The Daily 5, which has a section on Math Daily 3. I really love the simplicity of the choices and that the behaviors from our literacy block transfer over to math. I am still implementing and tweaking, etc to find what works best for my kiddos. It will definitely be in a future post! Right now I am really big on storing individual and partner games in freezer Ziploc bags. They are so easy to just grab and go!
These bad boys are with us until Wednesday. Then they get picked up by the mysterious science kit picker uppers (who I never see – I just deliver the goods to the office) and transported back to where they came from! This picture was right before we did a water change so if it looks cloudy I promise we take care of them and no animals were harmed in the making of this inquiry unit.
Next week….snails. I am not really looking forward to those. They smell and are actually really high maintenance! They have to remain moist so they don’t dry out, need different feedings, cloths changed, etc. Not to mention that you can’t just “pick them up” because they suction. You have to slide, then pull and I always fear shells flying off. 🙁 Goldfish are easier!
This hashtag from Tales from Outside the Classroom has been going viral on Instagram among us teachers. Some of them are truly hilarious! This was my gem this week. I think it says all you need to know. Yes, it was that bad.
