One way to ease back into school after Winter Break is to remember to “go slow to go fast.” It won’t take as long to get back into your normal routines as during the Back to School season but don’t skip it! It can be just the refresh you and your students need to keep things going well. Here are 5 classroom routines definitely worth reviewing after Winter Break!

5 Classroom Routines to Review After Winter Break

Do you remember all the time you spent at the beginning of the year teaching and practicing routines? You may be thinking, “Who could forget?!”

Well, now it’s time to review those routines you worked so hard to establish back in the fall. This will help you set up the next half of the year for success.

This is also a great time to change up any routines that aren’t working and give your classroom (and yourself) a fresh start if needed.

Reviewing how to use classroom supplies is always helpful after Winter Break.

Here are my top 5 routines to review or re-teach the first week back:

  1. Arrival and dismissal
  2. Free-flowing centers
  3. Small group procedures
  4. How to use supplies
  5. Clean-up time

Remember, a couple of weeks without the daily routine that your students are used to is all they need to forget some of the procedures that you worked hard to establish at the beginning of the year.

It is also helpful to review center routines and how to use center time materials.

So take a deep breath, put your feet up, and enjoy your time away from the classroom. You know exactly what routines to review when you return from break (even if you think your students have them down).
