Learning to read is a big job, and one way kids become strong readers is by exposure to and practice with sight words. I love giving my kids books that empower them to feel like confident readers, as well as books that they can take home to read to their family. This free Valentine Emergent Reader is perfect for February, and learning number and color words too!

*Pair with our Valentine’s Day Centers and Activities for Pre-K & Kindergarten!

This FREE Valentine Emergent Reader is perfect for February! Build fluency and confidence while working on number and color words too!

Valentine Emergent Reader

This time of year my kids are working hard to master color and number words. We practice these words with games, songs, and other engaging activities. They are becoming stronger readers every day!

One of my favorite ways to teach new words is to give my kids authentic practice with them. I do this with emergent reader books! Emergent readers give meaning to the words and put them in context – helping them stick even more.

This Valentine emergent reader works on number words to six.

This Valentine emergent reader works on number words to six. It also introduces several color words, while incorporating the sight words I and see.

The repetitive text is great for readers who are starting to decode, but need to gain confidence in their reading or build up sight word recognition.

These books are super easy to prep – just print double sided, cut in half, and staple. Now you have two books ready to go!

As an added bonus, this activity also strengthens fine motor skills through coloring!
