Umbrella Raindrop Counting Activity for Kindergarten

This FREE Umbrella Raindrop Counting Activity is quick and easy to set up but is also super engaging! Your students will love counting and working on fine motor muscles with fun manipulatives. This math center will continue to be a favorite all season long!

How to Prep

To prep this activity, start by grabbing the printable umbrella counting cards (download below). Laminate the cards for durability and reuse before cutting them apart.

Lastly, grab some blue manipulatives to create the raindrops for counting. We love to use blue pom poms or blue play dough but any manipulative you have on hand will work great. The activity is all set to play!

For this fun math center, grab some blue manipulatives like pom poms to create the raindrops for counting.

How to Play

To begin, students choose an umbrella counting card. Using the pom poms, or any manipulative provided, they can count and add the corresponding number of raindrops under the umbrella. As a bonus, this makes for great fine motor skills practice!

I like to place the pom poms in a wooden tray for organization and easy access in our math centers.

My favorite part about this activity is how versatile it is! If the cards are laminated and you don’t have time to gather your manipulatives, simply give your students some dry erase markers and they can draw on the raindrops.

Students read the number on the umbrella counting card and add the corresponding number of manipulative for raindrops.

If you are looking for an easy-prep independent activity, these umbrella counting cards can be printed out and used as single use printables. Students can use crayons or regular markers to color raindrops under each umbrella.
