Printable St. Patrick’s Day Matching Game

St. Patrick’s Day is coming up soon! Do you celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with your students? It’s a great opportunity to teach them about other cultures and their history while adding some fun leprechaun-themed learning activities into your lessons. St. Patrick’s Day Printable Matching Game

To prep, simply print out the St. Patrick’s Day matching cards and laminate them to make them durable and reusable year after year. You might want to use a small basket or grab bag to place the cards in depending on which variation of play you choose.

Matching the Pairs

This printable St. Patrick’s Day Matching Game can simply be used for matching the pairs. This way to play is especially suitable for early learners. Students can look at all the pictures and find the matching sets.

A matching activity like this seems like a simple task, but it does involve a lot of skills to get it right.

The most important skill is visual discrimination. It is the same skill that we use to recognize letters and numbers when we read, write, and do sums!

Memory Game

You can also use the cards as a memory game. Turn the cards face down, then try to find a pair by only turning two cards at a time. If it is not a pair, turn it back but remember where you have seen it!

Find all the matching pairs on your own or play with a friend and take turns finding pairs. Whoever matches the most pairs at the end of the game wins!

Building Patterns

Use the printable pattern mats to continue the ABAB patterns.

Pick the same cards out and place them in a pattern. Or, make your own patterns! Play with a friend and copy each other’s patterns.
