Missing numbers activities are a fun way to practice number sense! When children are beginning to learn about numbers they first start by counting aloud. From there, we then show them what those numbers look like on paper and how they are ordered beginning with the number one. This free Printable Missing Numbers Activity will challenge your students to fill in the numbers that are missing. Plus, it has an adorable bird theme that’s perfect for spring or any time of the year!

Printable Missing Numbers Activity
These Missing Numbers printables are a great print-and-go option. Use them as a simple morning work or early finisher activity in Pre-K and Kindergarten. Or add them to your math centers!
I like to let my kids write in the numbers with their favorite coloring tools. Crayons and skinny markers (great for pencil-like grip!) are always a hit. It’s an easy way to add some extra excitement and engagement to any activity!

If I am using these printables in my math centers, I like to laminate them or slip them into dry erase pocket sleeves to make the activity reusable.
I love saving paper and my students love using dry erase markers to write in the missing numbers. Win-win!
Another one of my favorite ways to use this missing numbers activity is to turn it into a partner game. With their partner, students can check one another’s work and also help each other if needed.
Teacher Tip: If you are just introducing numbers to your students, place a number chart nearby for reference.
With this activity, your kiddos will build confidence and be so proud to show off their completed missing numbers printables!
