For kids, February is an exciting time full of hearts, candy, and everything red, white, and pink! It’s also the perfect time to get out some of our favorite Valentine-themed learning activities! Your students will “love” working on writing, labeling, and more with these hands-on Valentine’s Day Writing Activities for Pre-K & Kindergarten!

Early in the school year when I introduced our writing center activities, I would give instructions and we would practice the routines. Then as I changed out themes later on, kids knew what to do and could complete them independently! HUGE teacher win!
For these Valentine’s Day writing activities, students will be introduced to the following vocabulary words: candy hearts, mailbox, chocolate, teddy bear, heart, balloons, valentine, and rose.
The included vocabulary cards come 4 to a page (8 words total) and are a great size to accompany all the activities. Be sure to laminate them for durability and reuse before adding them to your centers!

The mini “Write It!” books are great for labeling and can be used in your writing centers or in small groups if you put the words in a pocket chart.
The kids pick a card, find the matching picture in their book, and record the word in their best handwriting.
My students’ favorite writing center in this pack is the “Write the Room” activity. You can place the cards around the room and they hunt to find them and record the words.
You can also place them in a bin at the table for them to pick from and record – they love it either way. However you decide to use this activity, it’s sure to be a hit!
Pre-K and Kindergarten students love dry erase markers (at least mine do!) so when I add these Write It! strips to our centers, they get so excited!
Just print the strips, laminate them, and then add them to your centers with the vocabulary cards. Your students can write, erase, and write again for tons of Valentine-themed writing fun!
The possibilities are endless for our Valentine’s Day story book! You could even send it home as a fun themed writing book for kids to work on writing with their families.
Print the pages double-sided and use the cover page to create a journal. Or you can just use single pages as writing prompts in your literacy centers.
