These six books are staples in our home and in my classroom. Because you are never too old for a picture book with a lesson to learn!

The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds is an amazing story about a discouraged art student.

This book touches on a very common theme of self-consciousness that everyone struggles with. It builds confidence and encourages self-expression through art.

The Color Monster by Anna Llenas is a fun pop-up book on emotions.

The story is very helpful for the youngest learners because it teaches how to separate different emotions. The author gives each emotion a color and even gives examples of what they can look like.

In My Heart by Jo Witek is another incredible book on emotions and feelings.

This story takes a more in-depth look into the variety of feelings and how they all work together. It helps children feel safe in their own emotions and how to manage them appropriately.

Thelma The Unicorn by Aaron Blabey is a perfect confidence booster story! It is both funny and heartwarming.

The horse who becomes a unicorn quickly learns that staying true to who you are is always the best option.

The Invisible Boy by Trudy Ludwig needs to be read by everyone!

It is an amazing story about a boy who goes unnoticed. Because of this, he starts to disappear. But as a new student starts to include him, his colors slowly return. His personality shines! The book teaches the importance of inclusion and acceptance.

A boy with an unusual pet gets left out of a new club. He teaches the readers how to respond to hurt feelings and how to turn any situation around for the better!
