LITERACY CENTERS AND ACTIVITIES:
Ocean Habitat Fact Sheet – This is a short list of scientific facts to read aloud to students or to research and learn more about the ocean habitat.
Let’s Label Ocean Habitat – Cut and glue the names of some animals and plants in the ocean habitat.
Ocean Animal Writing – Place the picture/word cards around the room. Choose from ‘Ocean Animal Color It’ or ‘Ocean Animal Write It’ recording sheets.
Coral Letter Cards – Pick a coral letter card and trace the matching letter. Choose from uppercase, lowercase, or both cases and use the coordinating recording sheets.
Clammy CVC Words – Choose from either CVC word cards or CVC picture cards with coordinating recording sheets.
Whale’s CVCe Words – Match the CVCe puzzle cards together. Choose from ‘Pick and Color,’ ‘Pick and Trace,’ or ‘Pick and Write’ recording sheets.
Under the Sea Sight Words (editable sight word cards included) – Use the ocean animal letter cards to build the sight words on the mat. Recording sheet included.
Ocean Animals Easy Reader (2 levels) – Copy two-sided and cut in half for two books!
MATH CENTERS AND ACTIVITIES:
Ocean Animal Story Problem Mat – Choose an addition or subtraction story problem and use the animal picture cards to solve the problem on the mat. Recording sheet included.
Domino Ocean Puzzles – Cut the domino puzzle pieces and build the puzzles on their puzzle building board. Choose from sums 0 to 5, sums 6 to 10, or sums 11 to 18. Recording sheet included.
Count and Compare Ocean Animals – Use the mat to compare numbers. Choose from 10 or 20 frame cards, tally mark cards, or base ten block cards. Recording sheets are ‘Fishy 10 Frames,’ ‘Fishy 20 Frames,’ ‘Seal Tallies Count and Trace,’ and ‘Lobster’s Base Blocks.’
Positional Word Mini Books (4 different books) – Print and fold each book on one piece of paper for easy prep! Read the mini books and discuss positional words such as: above, on, under, behind, next to, in front of, between, far from, near, inside, through, up. Four recording sheets included.
