How to Use the Nursery Rhyme Easy Readers

My favorite way to use these readers is in small groups. I like to introduce the nursery rhymes to the students so we can practice any tricky or unfamiliar words that we find.

Some words found in classic nursery rhymes are not common words for Pre-K or Kindergarten students so taking the time to read through the books together first is super helpful. The simple and fun pictures are also great tools for helping students if they get stuck on a word!

Once we have identified all of our tricky words, we love hunting for rhyming words. The kids are so excited when they recognize a rhyme! We often go through and highlight or underline the rhyming words that we find.

When we are done reading (and singing!) our nursery rhymes the students can color their books independently.

Students can color the fun pictures to make the books their own!

When the readers are beautifully colored, the students can take their nursery rhyme collection home to proudly show off!
