Just say the word “pet” in the classroom and it seems every student’s hand shoots up ready to share a personal story! The topic of pets is always fun and engaging to little learners. Bring the animal fun into the classroom with these Pet Activities and Centers for Pre-K & Kindergarten!
Pets Activities and Centers
This pack is filled with engaging centers for Pre-K and Kindergarten students with a fun pet theme. It includes 9 literacy centers and 11 math centers that are hands-on and easy to prep!
This resource pack helps save time and also helps differentiate for students since many of the activities come with multiple levels!
Check out a few of the activities in this pet-themed activity pack below…
“What is a Pet?” Emergent Reader
Emergent readers are a fantastic tool to help your students build fluency skills and build confidence! These pet-themed emergent readers come in 2 versions. Print a simple label-style version or one with a predictable sentence pattern.
The best part is they are easy to prep. Simply copy double-sided and cut in half for two books!
Silly Puppy Shapes
We love learning about shapes and this Silly Puppy Shapes game makes practicing our shapes even more fun and interactive!
To play, kids pick a 2D shape card and say the shape name. Then they find and color the silly puppy on the recording sheet that matches the shape. This activity also includes a second version with silly puppy shape pictures on the cards.
Alphabet Tracing Strips
These dry erase Alphabet Tracing Strips add a fun twist to letter writing practice! Laminate the alphabet strips and students can have a blast writing and wiping to erase.
This resource pack includes tracing strips for both uppercase and lowercase letters!
Pet Shop Count
This Pet Shop counting activity is super fun and provides great practice for counting and writing teen numbers!
Students pick a pet card and count the number of dots in the 20 frame above each pet. Then they record the number in each pet’s box.
Dog and Bone ABC Puzzles
We can never have enough letter recognition activities and these Dog and Bone ABC puzzles make a great addition to your collection!
Students match the dog to its bone by pairing the matching letters. This pack includes 2 versions for both uppercase and lowercase!
Pet Count and Clip Cards
Practicing counting skills has never been more simple or fun! These counting clip cards also strengthen fine motor skills as students clip and unclip the clothespins.
For this activity, students count the pets on the top of the card. Then they find and clip the matching number on the bottom!
