Gingerbread Write the Room Activity

Run, run, run as fast as you can! This free Gingerbread Write the Room Activity is a “must have” for your writing centers this holiday season! Gingerbread-themed activities are some of my favorites and your students will have a blast reading and writing with this gingerbread hide and seek writing printable!

Gingerbread Write the Room Activity

This is a great activity to use in your Kindergarten literacy centers or pair children up with a partner for a game of hide, find, and write the word! The students are sure to love it!

This activity is super easy to prep. Begin by printing the gingerbread vocabulary cards and recording sheet. I recommend laminating the vocabulary cards for durability and reuse.

Grab some crayons and a clipboard and you’re ready to play!

Single Player Play

For use as a single player activity, start by taping the vocabulary words around the classroom or adding them to pocket charts. Have children walk around the room to find the gingerbread vocabulary cards.

When they find a word, they match it to the picture on their recording sheet, and write the word in the box next to the vocabulary picture.

We like to write with crayons to make the activity extra fun!

Partner Work

When played in pairs, one child will hide the pictures around the classroom while the other child finds them. The child that is “seeking” will then write the words on their own recording sheet.

When all picture cards have been found, the children switch. This way each child gets a chance to hide, seek, and write!

This is my favorite way to use this activity!

This is a simple song for December that will get your kids up and moving and is sung to the tune of “Here We Go ‘Round the Mulberry Bush.” We love quick and easy songs that we can sing together at Circle Time or for a quick brain break!
