As the sun comes out and the weather gets warmer, we have been outside investigating nature a bit more. We went on a nature walk a few weeks ago and one of my students discovered a frog! He sure wasn’t shy – he scooped him up to inquire about him some more while the other kids “Oooohed!” and “Ahhhhhed!” over it. We put the frog back, but it made us excited to learn more about frogs and enjoy some fun frog-themed activities! This free Frog Life Cycle Printable Easy Reader was a perfect little book to help us understand that frog a little more!

Frog Life Cycle Printable Easy Reader

While some of my kids knew that frogs start as eggs, many of them thought they were just, simply, “frogs” and that’s that. It was a surprise when we learned about how frogs really grow with our new little reader!

The book, “A Frog’s Life” contains simple text that makes it a great book that my kids can read independently. We usually read our books together first and talk about any “tricky” words, but at this time of year, they were ready to jump right in!

Kids love coloring the pictures in the black and white version of this emergent reader.

Most of our readers are black and white so that the kids can color them and take them home for reading practice. This reader also includes a color version.

To save ink, I like to make one color copy that I laminate and keep in the classroom. I usually do this for themed books or ones that I know I would like to save and use year after year.

This download also includes a color version of the frog life cycle printable emergent reader.

I also made a black and white copy for each student to keep. Simply download (below) and print double-sided, cut in half, and staple. This gives you two copies instantly!

After we read the book together, the kids add them to their book boxes to read over and over again until we finish our frog life cycle unit.

When we are done they can take them home to proudly show off their reading progress!

The simple text and fun pictures are great for teaching kids the steps in a frog's life cycle.
