Fireworks are a tradition for many families on Independence Day. This Cupcake Liner Fireworks Craft is a fun and simple patriotic craft for kids to make in celebration of Independence Day.  As an added bonus, it offers lots of opportunity for developing scissor skills.

Add some red, white, and blue to your Independence Day with this easy and fun kid craft cupcake liner fireworks craft. As added bonus, it offers a great opportunity for scissor practice.

I love cupcake liners and always have more than I need for baking. Luckily, they work great for crafts and scissor practice as well. I love that they are fluted, offering kids a natural guide for cutting.

This fireworks craft is a super easy craft to prep with just a few supplies that you likely have on hand. We used red, white, and blue cupcake liners for a patriotic theme, but fireworks come in all colors, so feel free to substitute other colors and use what you have on hand.

Supplies:

  • Cupcake liners (we used regular size and mini liners)
  • Scissors
  • Glue
  • Paper (we used a 12×12 piece of scrapbook paper)

This Cupcake Liner Fireworks Craft is a fun, patriotic craft for kids to make in celebration of Independence Day. Plus, it builds up scissor skills too!

Directions:

The instructions for this fireworks craft are really easy and require hardly any prep.

Simply lay out the cupcake liners and scissors, and instruct kids to cut slits into the cupcake liners. The cupcake liners are fluted providing the kids with a guide for cutting. The center (or bottom or the liner) also has a line circling it. Instruct kids to cut just to this line.

Once the liners have all been cut, have the kids glue them to a piece of paper, layering them to look like a firework display. Instruct kids to put glue on the center or bottom of the cupcake liner only to make the fireworks “pop.”

There you have it! A bright and colorful display of “fireworks!” These look great hanging up on display. You could even glue some hanging ribbon onto them to dress them up.
