As someone who absolutely loves seasonal activities, a new month for me means a new sensory bin! For our little ones, getting their hands messy and “playing” with new materials is always a treat. St. Patrick’s Day Sensory Bin

The first thing I do when getting a new sensory bin prepared is store the current filler, unless I’m planning on using it again right away.

Last month’s shredded paper is now safely tucked away in a gallon-sized baggie so that it can be used again for another activity later. (One of the biggest perks of switching out sensory bins is that they’re very budget friendly if you rotate your filler materials.)

This month we’re using our favorite filler – black beans! I often get asked how I make them so shiny, but the funny thing is I just grabbed the cheapest bag of dry beans I could find! (Just a little more proof of how simple these things are to put together!)

I simply pour the beans into the same bin I used previously, print out our new cards, and throw them in!

If you’re planning on using the cards more than once, I’d suggest laminating them for durability. If not, no worries!

For this month’s sensory bin, I thought we’d mix up our sensory practice with some fun coloring! So to “play” with this activity, students will choose CVC picture cards from the bin and color the matching clovers.

This set includes 2 differentiated practice pages – one for matching full CVC words and one for matching beginning sounds.

Regardless of which practice page you choose, your kiddos are sure to have a blast with this St. Patrick’s Day-themed activity!
