This pack was designed with Kindergarten/1st grade students in mind, but could be used for any early reader who is working on their fluency!

There are 18 CVCe word family story passages for students to read and illustrate (this can make a great comprehension check too!) and 21 fluency phrase pages for students to practice reading phrases in isolation. These pages also incorporate punctuation such as question marks or exclamation marks so that students practice fluency with different punctuation.
Suggestion: have students use highlighters to search for the word families!

The following word families are included in both the passages and the fluency phrase pages:

-ace, -ave, -ale, -ame, -ade, -ape, -ake, -ate, -ice, -ide, -ike, -ine,
-ite, -ile, -ole, -ope, -ose, -one, -oke, -ote, -ute, -ule, -une, -ude

(Please note that the u spellings contain some words with /oo/ sounds.) There are no CVCe passages for long e because most long e words are spelled with other long vowel patterns.

When sight words are added in phrases, they are taken from the Dolch pre-primer, primer, and 1st grade list in this pack.
