This activity already has the Pre-Primer Dolch words typed in and ready to go. It will open as a PowerPoint once you download.

But this activity is also editable, so that you can type in any sight word list that your class is working on!

To edit: simply go to the last page of the resource and type in the words you need into the text boxes.  Need more than one page of words?  No problem.  Just select the editable page, then click new slide, then select duplicate slide.  That will create a copy of the editable slide.  You may repeat that process to add as many editable pages as you need.

Once you have the sight words you need, just print and cut the cards apart.

Then print a recording sheet for each student.

Lastly, hang the words at varying heights around the room for your students to find, and you are ready to go!

Sight Word Hunt

Since sight words are so crucial to becoming a successful reader, I love to incorporate them into my teaching often.

This word hunt is the perfect way to give them that important practice while letting them get up and out of their seats.

I give each of my students a clipboard with their recording sheets and send them to search for words.  As they are reading the room, I walk around and quickly assess by asking them to read me words as they go.

After the activity, have them pair up and read their sight words to a friend.  Giving them another chance to read the sight words.

For Parents:

If you want to give your little reader extra sight word practice at home, this activity is the perfect way to make it fun and engaging.

Hide the words around the house and let them search for the words to read and write.  Then let them read the words they found to you.
