Space is a precious thing to a teacher! Storage, supplies, tables, chairs, etc take up valuable real estate, and we want our classrooms to feel like a second home! In my kindergarten, we also have play centers, so I also have items such as a kitchen set, block area, art area and more. I am blessed to have a classroom this year that allows me to house all of these items along with 26 kindergartners!
This year our school population is very large, and with the change to full day kindergarten, it was necessary to have one kindergarten classroom be housed at the district office in town. In case you didn’t guess – that lucky winner was me! I have found the biggest benefit to be space! I actually get to take up two entire portables that connect to each other!
What you are seeing is our main classroom. On the other side is our other room where we have lunch, store our backpacks, and more!
Next year the plan is for me to be back up at my main school. While that will be wonderful, it will be an adjustment going back to a smaller space! Although I will be happy to be back with other teachers and students and not alone!
If you are a teacher, what is your classroom space like? What are you thankful for?
