As we progress through the year, we are getting stronger with our number sense and really working on building our addition skills. One way we work on these is through fun games in math workshop. My kids especially love fun, seasonal activities, so I knew this free Valentine Addition game from our Valentine’s Day Centers and Activities Bundle would be a hit!

Valentine Addition Game
My kids love spinner games, and they are so easy to set up! Simply place the pencil inside the paperclip, give it a flick with your finger, and see where it lands!
Supplies Needed:
How to Play
For this game, we first spin the bear on the left, followed by the bear on the right. We then add the two numbers together to find the sum. There is a number line included, but sometimes it is also helpful to have manipulatives out on the table for students to count with (candy hearts or heart shaped beads are super fun for this).
Once we find the sum, we locate a heart with the correct answer and color it in. Spin and add again! We keep playing until all of the hearts have been colored.

This game is great to play independently, or you could turn it into a partner activity. Have two students use two different colors and see who colors in the most hearts!
