Fall is in the air, and often times in the classroom that can mean fun themes like pumpkins, leaves, and turkeys! I always love to incorporate new and fun, fall activities into our math centers, and this turkey ten frame math game is a great one!

*Pair with our Thanksgiving Centers and Activities for Pre-K & Kindergarten!

This FREE turkey themed ten frame math game for Kindergarten is a perfect math center for working on counting and subitizing this fall!

Turkey Ten Frame Math Game

In this game the students practice identifying numbers in ten frames and matching them with their numerals. It is a perfect activity for fall or Thanksgiving and your kids will love it!

How to Prep

This game is fairly quick to prepare and have ready in your classroom or at home.

To begin, I printed out the turkey ten frame cards and laminated them. This lets me use them year after year and they hold up great!

Depending on how many kids you will have at once in a math center, you may want to print two sets.

In this game the students practice identifying numbers in ten frames and matching them with their numerals.

After cutting them apart, I placed the cards in a small basket. Then I added them to my math centers along with copies of the recording sheet.

How to Play

This game was one that my kids caught onto quickly. We have played similar games before, so after explaining the directions, I released them to play on their own.

They picked up a turkey card and counted the dots in the ten frame. As kids get better at subitizing (recognizing sets instantly without counting one by one) they should be able to instantly “read” the ten frames and not need to count.

Then, they found the matching numeral on the recording sheet and colored that turkey!

Students pick a turkey ten frame card and find the matching number on the recording sheet.
