Transportation Activities and Centers

This awesome transportation pack has 18 math and literacy activities with lots of ways to differentiate and play. These activities are hands-on, easy to prep, and include a mix of games, readers, writing activities, activity mats, graphing activities, and much, much more!

Check out a few of the activities in this transportation-themed resource pack below…

Name Tracing Strips

Let’s begin with these super cute and versatile name tracing strips. Make these for your students and laminate them or put them in a sheet protector. With dry erase markers they can trace their names over and over!

This file is editable so you can customize the strips to fit your needs. Use them to practice writing names, sight words, or any words you would like your kids to focus on.

These name tracing strips are able to be customized to your own student names.

“Things That Go” Emergent Reader

This activity couldn’t be easier to prep. These readers require NO cutting or stapling and can be ready for your kids in no time at all. Just copy double-sided and cut in half for two books!

There are two levels of emergent readers to choose from. Print a simple label-style version, or one with a predictable sentence pattern.

The transportation emergent readers are low-prep and require no cutting or stapling.

Truck Counting Mats

It doesn’t get more hands-on than with these fun truck counting mats. Just print the mats and grab some play dough or any small manipulative you have on hand, and you’re all set!

For this math center, students read the number and number word. Then they use their play dough or manipulatives to “fill the truck” with the corresponding number of items. These counting mats cover numbers 1-20.

Students can read the number and number word on the counting mat and use their play dough to put that many items “in the truck.”

Rainbow Cars

Your students will be excited to practice color recognition and fine motor skills with this engaging Rainbow Cars activity. Print the car cards and recording sheet, then grab some crayons for this simple and fun center.

The kids start by picking a colorful car card. Then they find and read the color word that matches and color in the correct car.

Transportation Sort

Pull out this Transportation Sort after you’ve completed your transportation unit and be impressed by how much your kiddos have learned. This activity is a favorite in our classroom!

Students simply place the mode of transportation under where it travels: air, land, or water. They will have a blast sorting all of the fun pictures like cars, boats, planes, and more.
