How to Prep

Prep is so easy! Simply print the set of alphabet cards that you will use as well as the recording sheet.

Cut the alphabet cards apart and add them to a small basket or make a pile with them.

If you want to make this a reusable activity, laminate the recording sheet for added durability.  Use manipulatives of some kind (mini erasers, counters, etc.) to cover each surfboard as the surfer cards are picked.  When all of the surfboards are covered, clear the recording sheet and play again.

Draw a surfer card and then find and color the matching letter on the recording sheet.

How to Play & Learn

Choose one surfer alphabet card at time.  Say the name of the letter.  For more advanced learners, have them make the letter sound and even say a word that begins with that letter.

After identifying the letter, find the correct matching letter on the surfboards on the recording sheet. Color in the matching letter and pick another card!

Keep picking surfer alphabet cards until all of the surfboards on the recording sheet are colored in.

  1. This is adorable, thank you! I would love it if you made a preschool version that involved matching the surfboard to a “wave” of the same letter (Capital to Lowercase matching)!!!!

Always impressed with your clever and creative ideas!
