Word searches are always a fun activity, and they can be great for early readers too, as the kids strengthen literacy skills while hunting for letters and words. But sometimes word searches that go diagonal and backwards can be a bit too hard for my kiddos, so I was excited to use these free Summer Word Searches for Kids that are just the right level of difficulty!

*Pair with our Summer Kindergarten Printables BUNDLE pack!

These summer word searches for kids are the perfect grab and go activity! With words that go only vertical and horizontal, they are great for beginners!

Summer Word Searches for Kids

Summer is just around the corner, and that means no school – and it may mean road trips! Long car rides can be a tricky endeavor, and you should always be prepared with some activities for the little ones. It will make the ride much more enjoyable (for them, and especially for you!).

These summer word searches are not only great for those long car rides, but also fun for those last weeks of school, too!

What’s Included?

A lot of things come to mind when you think of summer. This pack of summer word search printables includes five unique and fun themes!

  • Summer Fun – A word search full of what makes summer fun.
  • Camping – Yep, this is a great way to spend your summer vacation.
  • Beach Time – All those words that come to mind when you think sand and beaches.
  • Summer Treats – Those tasty treats that help beat the heat in summer.
  • Summer Weather – All sorts of weather words that relate to summer.

Each of these word searches will print on a single page. Because they were made in “easy” mode with no diagonal or reverse words, they are great for any early learner. All 10 words on each printable can be found either horizontally or vertically. Nothing too tricky! You can even grab them with or without the gridlines!

Our favorite way to complete these word searches is with highlighters! But any writing tool works great. You could even laminate these printable word searches or place them in a dry erase pocket sleeve. Just give your kids a dry erase marker to start hunting for summer words! When they are done, they can erase their word searches and trade with a friend.

These engaging summer word searches for kids will bring the summer fun to the classroom, home, or car!
