Classroom Holiday Party Ideas
If you have a second calling to be a party planner and classroom parties are your thing, then go hog wild! But if you are just trying to hold it together long enough to make it to Winter break, then know that it is okay to not have a huge extravaganza in your classroom.
It doesn’t have to be that complicated. So here is a list of quick and easy ideas for simple classroom holiday parties!
Interactive Bulletin Board
There are lots of fun, interactive classroom holiday party ideas for you to do with your students that will make the season feel extra festive.
You could create a classroom bulletin board display like the one above. This bulletin board display came from one of the members of The Kindergarten Connection. She had her students’ hands traced on green construction paper and used them to make the pine branches of the tree (this is a great job for a classroom volunteer)! Dress it up by adding ornaments or gifts under the tree, or keep it simple with just the “pine branches.”
Games and Movement
You could also play a holiday game! This could be something simple like our Holiday Bingo Game. Kiddos have a ball with any Bingo games, but this one is particularly festive and worthy of a place in your classroom holiday party!
Or, add in some holiday movement activities with seasonal, interactive brain breaks like:
- Holiday Dance and Freeze
- Reindeer Pokey
- Penguin Dance
- Christmas Chicka Boom
- The Dancing Christmas Tree Song
- Candle Chase
Independent Activities
Interactive activities are great, but there are times that you just need your students doing something quietly at their seats. You could even play a little holiday music to make the seat activities extra festive!
These adorable (and easy) Holiday Roll and Color activities above shout holiday celebration! They are the perfect independent activity for your students to add a little holiday cheer to your classroom while still doing something academic. Whether your students need practice counting or are ready for addition, these activities give you options to have a quick holiday activity perfect for all of your students. You can grab them FREE at the bottom of this post! (Do you love roll and color activities? Grab the whole bundle HERE!)
A Simple Craft
Sometimes a party needs a good, simple craft. These Easy Paper Bag Gingerbread Houses turn out so cute, and they really are easy to prepare. With some simple supplies you probably already have in your classroom, you can turn a simple paper bag, into a gingerbread masterpiece!
Watch a Movie!
Another favorite low key activity to do with your students is watching a good holiday movie! There are some fun options for the classroom that are rated G. You could even theme your day based on your movie choice (hot cocoa and Polar Express) or let kiddos come in their favorite holiday jammies if you wanted to get extra fancy!
Some classroom friendly holiday movies include:
- Mickey’s Christmas Carol
- Winnie the Pooh: A Very Merry Christmas
- The Muppet Christmas Carol
- The Polar Express
- A Charlie Brown Christmas
- How the Grinch Stole Christmas
- Frosty the Snowman
- Annabelle’s Wish
- Santa Buddies
