The ocean is always fun to learn about, no matter the season, but it’s especially fun as the weather gets warmer. With summer break and trips to the beach on the brain, I decided to incorporate some ocean-themed learning fun into our math centers. Your kids will have a blast counting sets with these fun and free Ocean Animal Count and Clip Cards!

*Pair with our Kindergarten Clothespin Clip Cards BUNDLE!

Ocean Animal Count and Clip Cards

These Animal Count and Clip Cards cover addition within 12 and are perfect for Pre-K and Kindergarten small groups or math centers!

To get these super fun cards ready, I printed them out and laminated them. After cutting them apart, I placed them in a small basket with some clothespins to have ready for a quick and simple math center!

I like to play the game first with my kids before letting them give it a go independently. We love clip card activities so I knew they would be excited!

How to Play

To start, the students grabbed a count and clip card, counted the ocean animals (we also named them too, which is great practice if you are learning about the ocean in general) and then clipped the matching number.

I love these clip cards because while my kids were having a blast counting and clipping, they were strengthening fine motor skills, too!

You could even make these counting cards self-correcting by writing the correct number on the back of the cards. If you do this, I recommend printing on cardstock though, so that the cards aren’t see-through!

This activity is sure to be a hit and will help keep your kiddos engaged and learning as summer break draws near!
