Summer is just around the corner which means incorporating some new seasonal activities into our lessons! I can’t wait for warmer days and the fun that it brings like evenings that end with ice cream sundaes. Yummy! Now this free printable Number Word and Color Word Ice Cream Spelling Activity isn’t as tasty as real ice cream sundaes – however, it is a fun, hands-on way for students to practice spelling color and number words as the warmer days get closer.

Number Word & Color Word Ice Cream Spelling Activity

My five year old daughter is learning to read and loving it. She can easily isolate and blend sounds in words; however, sight words like color and number words, frustrate her because she cannot sound them out.

We love to incorporate fun, hands-on activities, like this Number & Color Word Spelling Activity, into our Summer days. It helps encourage recognition and spelling of these words so she can read them without getting frustrated when she encounters them in a book.

We use this activity at home but it is also great for a kindergarten or first grade classroom. It makes a fun morning work activity or literacy center during your reading block!

Laminate all of the ice cream bowls and letters to make this spelling activity durable and reusable.

Choose whether you are going to practice color words or number words or both.
