Hey there!
I am so glad you are here and landed upon this corner of the internet.
I’m Alex, a Transitional Kindergarten teacher and the creator of The Kindergarten Connection.
From the time I went to Kindergarten myself (see me there below?!) I knew teaching was in my bones.
Teaching “runs in my family,” but it was also evident in how I lined up my stuffed animals for their daily lessons. I would like to think my classroom management has improved a little since then, though. ๐
My teaching journey started in a 1st grade classroom. I have also taught 2nd grade, a multiage class of 1st-3rd graders combined, Kindergarten, and then finally, Transitional Kindergarten, which is what I currently call home.
Most of my years have been with students ages 4-7, and the creation of The Kindergarten Connection came from my desire to not only provide for my own students, but to connect and collaborate with people just like you – other early childhood educators who know that you can’t go it alone (or it’s better with friends, anyway). ๐
Professionally, I am an early childhood educator and advocate for developmentally appropriate education. I hold a B.A. in Elementary Education, a M.S. in Special Education, and a M.S in Curriculum and Design.
Personally, I am always running out the door like my pants are on fire even if I have been “ready to go” for hours, honestly don’t mind the song “Baby Shark,” and drink more coffee than is probably recommended.
I live with my husband, Justin, in Washington State (which means there are about 97 Starbucks in a one mile radius to fuel my coffee addiction). ๐
When I am not in my classroom, you may find me just like this, drinking coffee in a messy bun by my computer – with quite possibly my favorite mug ever as a Friends fan.
At The Kindergarten Connection, we are passionate about and understand the needs of Pre-K and Kindergarten teachers.
I believe that we are your go-to resource for collaboration and support, and it is my goal, teacher to teacher, to be here for you.
So, pull up a chair and share a virtual cup of coffee with me – stay awhile!
You can find all you need to get started in our community here.
Happy Teaching!
