It’s almost turkey time! As we near Thanksgiving, turkey crafts and activities seem to be all around. You can give kids more knowledge about turkeys with this free, quick-print Life Cycle of a Turkey Emergent Reader. It is perfect for early readers with its simple text and sight words. And you can be sure that in this book, no turkeys are turned into Thanksgiving dinner!

Life Cycle of a Turkey Emergent Reader
This super cute and fun emergent reader couldn’t be easier to prepare! Just print double sided, cut in half, staple, and you have two books ready to go. Save paper and prep double the books in half the time!
This reader is meant for kids to color as they read along and instead of “Name,” the cover says “Colored by” which makes your students feel like little illustrators!
This book is perfect for guided reading groups or to explore together as a whole group activity.
Students may need some help with the vocabulary (there are great vocabulary words in here) but can underline or color the sight words they know.
I like to use this emergent reader while working in small groups. We read through the book together, using the fun pictures to help us identify the words.
After we finish, I send the books home with my students to proudly share and read aloud with their families. They love having books that can go home with them to keep!
