The holidays are the perfect time to add some seasonal, themed learning fun into our lessons. This pack of Holiday Printable Easy Readers for Pre-K & Kindergarten is a great way to celebrate the holidays all year long while strengthening important literacy skills. It includes engaging and effective readers for 18 different holidays celebrated all over the world!
Holiday Printable Easy Readers
These themed readers contain fun facts and pictures specific to each holiday. Plus, every book contains high-frequency words and includes 2 versions making this resource pack perfect for differentiation!
The books are super simple to prepare. Just print double-sided, cut in half, staple, and voila – you have two books ready to go! This is great for saving paper. If you’re using them at home, it means there is an extra copy for you to follow along with.
This holiday printable reader pack contains 36 books (2 for each holiday) that your kids will love. They are great for classroom books, guided reading groups, independent reading, at-home practice, and more!
The following readers are included in this incredible holiday collection:

How to Use the Holiday Easy Readers
These readers are a great way to teach students about common holidays and even some that are less familiar. My favorite way to use them is in small groups. First, I introduce the holiday to the whole class. The kids really light up when it is a holiday that they recognize!
After we discuss the holiday I like to work with my students in our guided reading groups so we can practice any tricky or unfamiliar words that we find. Some words specific to the holidays are not common words for Pre-K or Kindergarten students so taking the time to read through the books together is extra helpful.
Sometimes we go through and highlight or underline the new words that we find. The simple and fun pictures are also great tools for helping students if they get stuck on a word!
Working in small groups also allows me to pick which version of the printable reader is best for each group. I may use the first reader with simple sentences or if the kiddos are ready for a challenge, I can use the second reader!
When we finish reading the books the students color them independently and take them home to proudly show off and share their favorite holiday facts at home!
