The holidays are almost here, and gingerbread is one of my favorite themes in the coming month! Going right along with gingerbread are tasty and colorful gumdrops. I love coming up with themed learning activities that match the season, and this free Gumdrop Color Words Printable is the perfect activity during the holidays!

*Pair with our Gingerbread Math and Literacy Centers for Pre-K & Kindergarten!

This free Gumdrop Color Words Printable is the perfect activity to add to your Kindergarten literacy centers during the holidays!

Gumdrop Color Words Printable

In Kindergarten, we are working on reading color words along with our regular sight words, and this Colorful Gumdrops printable is a great way for kids to practice that while also getting a chance to work on coloring skills.

Coloring activities sometimes have a bad reputation, but coloring has significant value in building fine motor skills and being able to manipulate and use writing tools. It’s important AND fun!

Your students will have a blast coloring the cute gingerbread man in the corner of the color words printable!

How to Prep

I love quick activities that are easy to prep while still being fun! I just printed out enough copies of the Colorful Gumdrops printable for my kids and grabbed some of our favorite coloring tools too.

For this activity, we love to use colored pencils, skinny markers, and of course, our trusty crayons.

I like to use this color words printable in the morning as an entry task or add it to our literacy centers but you can use it anytime!

Time to Color!

The directions for this activity are simple. Students begin by reading through the color words. Then they can choose a coloring tool and color the gumdrops to match the words.

After they color all of the gumdrops, they can also color the cute little gingerbread man in the corner!

This Colorful Gumdrops printable pairs perfectly with some of our favorite gingerbread picture books too!

To play, students read the word and then color the gumdrops on the color words printable.

This festive activity is perfect for the holiday season and is sure to be a hit with your kiddos!
