Graphing and Measurement Activities and Centers

Graphing and measurement activities help your students analyze the world around them. Being able to put a quantity to how big something is gives big and little more meaning. Putting information into a graph allows students to interpret data and make comparisons instead of just talking about favorite pets.

These skills open up a whole new world of thought for your early learners. I love seeing all of the light bulb moments they get to have with these fun and engaging activities.

What’s Included?

This resource is full of activities to help your students with a variety of skills including: longer/shorter, lighter/heavier, measuring with manipulatives, and graphing. With 9 different graphing activities and 8 different measurement activities, your kiddos are going to learn a ton!

These activities are NOT themed to any specific holiday or month, so you can use them any time of the year!

Check out a few of the activities in this pack below…

This pack includes 9 different graphing activities and 8 different measurement activities for hands-on learning.

Measure the Room

My students love this activity, partly because they get to be up and moving around the room!

“Measure the Room” will have your kiddos exploring their surroundings with measurement in mind. Use unifix cubes (or any manipulative you like) to have students measure and record the size of the objects in the room.

Extend the activity by asking children to analyze their findings. What object was the biggest? Which item was the smallest?

In "Measure the Room", students use unifix cubes to measure and record the size of the objects in the room.

Which is Longer?

This activity is great for centers and small groups. With some simple manipulatives, this “Which is Longer” activity gets the children measuring and analyzing!

Students choose a card and line up the number of manipulatives called for. Then they determine which is longer. They will then color the item that was longer on their recording sheet.

Such a simple activity practices so many skills!

Pocket Chart Graphing

I love using pocket chart graphs during Circle Time. There are 6 different prompts to choose from, and children love being able to cast their votes and see their names on the graph. Simply put up the question and have your kiddos put their name in the column of their choice on the graph.

Then the real discussions begin! How many classmates have pets? What is the least favorite dessert? Do more people like basketball or football?

This resource is editable! So you can type in the names of all of your students and have name cards for all of your pocket chart activities.
