Handmade Foam Christmas Ornament for Kids

This craft project is great for children as young as Pre-K all the way through grade school. I am sure that even older children would really enjoy this project too!

If you have little ones who aren’t yet strong in their cutting skills, then you can pre-cut the foam pieces for them. Those kiddos will still get their fine motor muscle workout when gluing the pieces together.

Let’s get started with some simple and inexpensive supplies!

Supplies Needed:

Grab some craft foam, craft sticks, and glue to make this fun foam Christmas ornament.

How to Assemble the Ornament

Begin by cutting green craft foam into strips. These strips should be cut in various sizes and lengths.

Next, add some glue about an inch from the bottom of the craft stick.

Start applying the green foam strips to the wooden stick as you work your way up to the top.

You will want to place the longer strips at the bottom of the stick and apply smaller strips to the top. This way, it will look more like the shape of a tree.

While the green foam dries, cut out a yellow star and small red circles for the ornaments. Glue the star to the top and scatter the red ornaments all over the tree.

To complete the foam Christmas ornament, cut a piece of ribbon or twine, shape it into a loop, and glue it to the back of the tree for hanging.

This craft is a great activity for adding some classroom holiday fun and for practicing fine motor skills as students build their tree with the pieces. It is sure to be a hit with your kids!
