Block printed leaves are easy to make and are the perfect addition to your collection of fall crafts! This activity teaches about color mixing while also strengthening fine motor skills. Fall Leaves Craft for Kids

To make this beautiful fall craft you will need to create foam stamps. These foam stamps can be used again and again by adding a bit more ink each time. Experiment with different colors of paper or ink for a different look each time. Your kids will absolutely love this activity. Every leaf that they create will be uniquely theirs!

Step 1 – Gather Your Materials

To begin, use scissors to remove the outer rim from a foam tray as shown. This sheet of foam will be used to create the “stamp” for your block printing project.

Once the stamp has been made, invite students to roll the brayer into a foam tray with yellow and red block printing ink.

Step 4 – Stamp Your Paper

Immediately after applying the ink to the stamp, flip the stamp over onto a sheet of cardstock paper. Apply firm and even pressure. Finally, carefully lift up the stamp to reveal your block printed leaf!

For a finishing touch, dip the end of a cotton swab into some gold tempera paint and add a dotted border around your block printed design!

Allow the paint and ink to dry completely.

More Fall Crafts for Kids:

  • Make a garland of block printed leaves by punching two holes near the top of the print. Thread yarn along the top edge.
  • Create a set of Autumn stationary with a set of block printed notecards.
  • Craft up some bookmarks using tall and thin pieces of craft foam to make the stamps. Cut the designs out from cardstock paper, and laminate if desired.
