I love when the same craft can be used for both the lower- and upper-case versions of a letter, and that is definitely the case with E/e. This just makes it easier to prep materials

These egg letter crafts are perfect around Easter, after reading Green Eggs & Ham (although you may need to swap out the colors), or as a cute craft to complement some kids’ baking!

There’s always fighting at my house about who gets to crack the eggs (not enough recipes require five eggs in the batter to keep everyone happy) so this is a fun way to give each kid a crack at it!

Letter E Craft – E is for Egg Craft

First, gather your materials:

  • White and yellow construction paper or cardstock
  • Glue sticks
  • Scissors (for the teacher/parent)

Using the scissors, prepare the shapes needed for making your egg letter craft – each child will need:

  • 1 letter e (or an “e” and an “E”)
  • 1 oval cut in half with a jagged line to form the egg shells

Provide the children with the necessary shapes and glue sticks. My kids also always have access to markers and crayons, so keep that in mind if you want to allow the children to personalize their crafts even further – Easter Eggs anyone?

As with all of our letter crafts, I’m really open to what the kids want to do with their crafts – by physically handling the craft and being engaged in the conversation around it, they are being familiarized with the letter’s shape, its sound, and building some interest in the power of letters.

All of my kids assembled their egg crafts slightly differently – some completely covering the letters, some placing the “egg shells” just on the corners – pulling away from the letter, and some placed the letters overtop of the shells.

Our E is for Egg Letter E Craft was quick and easy, making it the perfect craft to complement another egg-citing activity!
