As Valentine’s Day approaches, we love getting ready with some fun, themed learning activities! After the success of our counting bear addition cards, I just knew my students would be thrilled to work on addition to 10 with these free Candy Heart Addition Cards from our Valentine’s Day Centers and Activities Bundle!

*For even more seasonal learning fun, grab the whole Valentine’s Day Centers and Activities BUNDLE in our shop or purchase it over on Teachers Pay Teachers!

Bring some seasonal fun to your math centers while practicing addition to 10 in an engaging way with these FREE Candy Heart Addition Cards!

Candy Heart Addition Cards

These Candy Heart Addition Cards are the perfect activity to add some hands-on fun to your math centers or small groups this February! These cards are simple to prep. I like to add in some candy conversation hearts for an extra level of excitement and engagement but any manipulatives you have on hand would work great. Let’s get started!

Extra Tip: You can have “community candy hearts” that kids share but do not eat. Or you can give each child their own ziploc bag of candy hearts to use for math, and maybe eat one or two each day, etc. Both are fun options, so do what works best for you!

Work on one to one correspondence and addition with these heart addition cards.

How to Prep and Play

To begin, print out the candy heart addition cards and laminate them to make them sturdy and reusable. We use them multiple times during math workshop and want them to last!

After cutting the cards apart, put them, along with some candy hearts, in small bins or baskets.

The students match up the real candy hearts to the pictures (great for one-to-one correspondence) and then they add the total number of hearts together, using dry erase markers to fill in the equation! I don’t know about your kids but anything with dry erase markers is always a hit in our class!

Print out the cards, laminate, and grab your candy hearts and dry erase markers for a super fun math center!
