Like most all teachers, I love books! I love reading book recommendations for my classroom, and I love sharing books with others!
This week, I am linking up with Mrs. Jump’s class for Book Talk Tuesday to share one of my favorite books for teaching environmental print!
Environmental print is literally all around us – and in kindergarten, I love the shock and surprise when I help the students that they can “read” by reading signs they know! They quickly want to show everything they can read, from Cheerios to Oreos and more!
After a unit on environmental print, field trips even became more fun! My students would be looking out the window pointing to open signs, stop signs, railroad crossings and one child excitedly said “teacher, a do not enter sign!! Happy teacher moment, let me tell you. 🙂
One of my favorite books for environmental print is a pretty common one (it even comes with our curriculum) and I love the Big Book version. Seriously, make sure you have the Big Book!!
