Hi everyone! Welcome back to Day 2 of Blog Hoppin’s Teacher Week! Today is WHERE Tuesday and I am going to be sharing a bit about where I spend my days in Kindergarten. Link up and join the fun!
I used to teach in a local private school and this year made the jump to public, and the fun jump to kinder! Our district made the switch to full day kinder for all schools, so long story short, our school is overcrowded, so one kindergarten session is down at our District Office classrooms. That would be me – the only class there. Kind of lonely, but we will make it work for the year!
I am trying to think of it as an adventure. (The good kind, not the one like the recurring dream I have where the kids escape to the road and no one is there to help me chase them because we are alone, not that kind).
We don’t start school here in my area until after labor day. Please don’t throw tomatoes if you have been in school for weeks already! You will have revenge when it is practically July and I am still teaching. 🙂
So, my room is NOT ready! I will do a post on a classroom reveal soon, but today I will share some of my favorite areas of my room!
This is a sitting area for work time or Read to Self during Daily 5, etc. My friend actually hand painted those chairs for me! They were hideous brown ugly ones before that I picked up at a sale. The curtain is not a window, but is actually covering up a two-way mirror that gives me the creeps. I am sorry, but for all I know there could be a clown on the other side watching us and we wouldn’t know- I hated it, so I covered it up!
This is probably going to be my favorite area of the room! I am not done with it yet, but it is the library. Remember I told you I am obsessed with kid furniture? Here is more proof….. I just can’t help it. The photos on the wall I actually just ordered from Costco onto canvas. They have pre-selected themes so I went to jungle and found them – perfect!
This is the front of our meeting area. My friend hand painted that stool and the teacher chair. Isn’t she amazing?? They go perfectly with my room. The stool is for the Safari Leader (helper) to
climb on and teeter and hopefully not fall off sit on nicely during rug time.
Speaking of Safari Leader….. I found this at the DOLLAR store. I love it!!! It is a vest for my helper to wear. It was an amazing find and I bought a few of them so that they can last.
Yes, I did put a picture of a bathroom in my post. Why? Because it is OURS, as in, in OUR room! (angels singing in background). We don’t have to hike down a hall or run because we can’t make it or wonder why Betty Sue is STILL not back yet, because we have our very own bathroom in our classroom. Love…..
Finally… I went into my room today and realized the tech people had been working to put in some computers. Yay for the computers! But does it bother anyone else that the “different” one is not in the middle to even it out? hehehe. I can’t help it. First thing I noticed. 🙂
Well friends, that’s it for now! A classroom tour will come soon when it is truly done. I am super excited to show you more of my room! I will show you the hideous before pictures too, and the ones where my piles are dumped all over the room so you know that I am indeed a real human and mess maker and not a teacher-bot.
For now, I will see you tomorrow for WHY Wednesday! Join the hop!
