Best Board Books for Toddlers
Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See?
Beloved Brown Bear is a perfect book as a board book, and one of my favorite board books for toddlers. It is a wonderful way to reinforce colors and animals, and Carle’s illustrations are both beautiful and fun! This book is a perfect introduction to some of the most common sight words as well. And where else can you read about a purple cat?
This touchy-feely book is one of many in the “That’s Not My…” series that young children absolutely love! Each page has different textures for the child to feel and associate the descriptive word with. Theinat the end, the child finds the right monster.
This book is perfect for getting children to participate! It talks about different body parts and asks them to do something. Not only is this book great for learning about body parts and body movements, but it also is perfect for increasing listening skills!

This book is both funny and full of positive messages! The vocabulary in the book is wonderful – it exposes children to a variety of different words in an engaging context. Children ask to read it over and over again, and it is guaranteed to be a winner with parents too!
Gossie is a gosling who is quite easy to fall in love with. This book is filled with repetition, rhyming, and the fun tales of Gossie and her favorite boots. It is a perfect book for toddlers and preschoolers alike.
This story tells of the adventures of five little ladybugs. The cover starts with five tactile ladybugs, and as you turn each page, one disappears. This book is perfect as an interactive book because it encourages children to count with rhyming hints. There is also a version with Ten Little Ladybugs for children who want to hear more!
Many children don’t want to go to bed, but this book is magical. It helps children see saying “goodnight” as a part of a routine. The text is calming and soothing and it is a perfect book to read before bedtime. The rhyme in the book, combined with the simplicity, makes this book a fantastic pick for young children.
This book has been enchanting children for years, and now it is a perfect book for toddlers in the board book version. There are so many literary elements in it from the rhyme to the exciting way that it introduces the alphabet. It’s hard not to fall in love with this one!
This tender story is a wonderful picture of a parent’s love! It is a great pick for bedtime, or just for an extra snuggly moment. One of the most beautiful parts is when the father says, “I love you right up to the moon – and back.”
This story is perfect for helping children learn about generosity. The rainbow fish finds friendship and happiness by giving away his beautiful scales, and the illustrations are absolutely delightful.
This classic is loved by children of all ages. There is just something enchanting about the beautiful way it portrays the lifecycle of a butterfly. This helps introduce children to sequencing, days of the week, and more!
Eric Carle has created another amazing book that talks about how ocean dads take care of their little ones. There are even see-through camouflage pages. This book is beautiful to read and to look at.
