In the beginning of Kindergarten (all year, really) we explore our ABC’s a ton! We love fun, interactive games and especially puzzles. With fall just around the corner and many schools in full Back to School mode, these free Apple Alphabet Puzzles are the perfect resource to add to your collection of learning activities!

*Pair this with our Apple Centers and Activities for Pre-K & Kindergarten!

These free Apple Alphabet Puzzles are a great literacy center for preschoolers or kindergarteners to practice their ABC's this fall!

Apple Alphabet Puzzles

These apple alphabet puzzles are super fun and engaging! They’re versatile too – they can be used as a small group game, independent activity, literacy center, or even in a pocket chart!

This activity is quick and easy to prepare!

Start by printing the puzzles (download below) on cardstock and laminating them. This will make them durable and reusable for years to come!

Next, cut each apple puzzle apart on the dark lines to make squares. Lastly, cut each apple in half on the dotted lines to make the puzzle halves.

Print the apple puzzles, cut each apple puzzle apart on the dark lines, then cut each apple in half to make the puzzle pieces.

How to Play

In a guided small group, we first put the uppercase letters in order from A-Z (great for working on alphabetical order), and then we take turns picking a lowercase half, naming it, and finding its match.

We continue taking turns until we have matched up all of the apple pairs with their correct halves!

After I introduce these alphabet puzzles to my students in small groups I like to add them to our literacy centers.

We first put the uppercase letters in order from A-Z and then we take turns picking a lowercase half, naming it, and finding its match.

It can be a little overwhelming for students to start with all 26 letters, so you may want to start with just a handful of alphabet puzzles, depending on the level of your kiddos.
