Winter has arrived, and we have been having a ton of fun learning with easy-prep, seasonal activities in our small groups and centers. These Winter Easy Readers are a great support in the classroom to help us work on high-frequency words including color words. Best of all, after the kids read and color them – they can take them home to practice!

These printable Winter Emergent Readers are great for early readers to use as guided reading books or take home books in Kindergarten!

Winter Easy Readers

These books are SO easy to prep, which makes them perfect for the classroom (or home too!). Just print double-sided, cut in half, and you have two copies ready to go!

What’s Included?

This pack of books includes 3 super fun titles for your early readers:

  • Winter is Here!
  • The Snowman’s Hat
  • Ready For Winter

Winter is Here!

First up, I printed off “Winter is Here!”

The front of each book says “colored by” instead of “name” which makes the students feel quite special!

The front of each book says "colored by" instead of "name" which makes them feel quite special!

The repetitive text in this book is great for early readers working on recognizing and reading the high-frequency words are and here.

Winter vocabulary is used for a fun and engaging twist, and my kids love to color the pictures.

This winter emergent reader strengthens recognition of the high-frequency words are and here.

The Snowman’s Hat

Our second reader, “The Snowman’s Hat,” is a fun reader that encourages the kids to recognize and read color words!

They read the words to discover which color to make the snowman’s hat.

For readers who need extra support in my small groups, I highlight the color words in the correct color. This allows them to self-check their work! We also refer to posters hanging in our classroom that have color words and colors on them.

"The Snowman's Hat" will have your kids recognizing and reading color words!

Ready for Winter

Finally, our last winter reader, “Ready for Winter,” has us imagining that we are gathering up some winter items!

This easy reader focuses on the high-frequency words I, will, get, and my.

The vocabulary is based on a winter theme and includes pictures for support.

"Ready for Winter" focuses on the high-frequency words I, will, get, and my.

Your kids will love these winter emergent readers. The best part is that they will help build confidence in your early readers and they can take them home to proudly share their reading progress with their families!
