Star Themed Printable Math Facts Game

This is a great low-prep activity for Kindergarten small groups or add it to your math centers for an engaging game that your students will enjoy. It includes 12 star equation cards and a recording sheet for coloring in the answers.

How to Prep

Prep for this activity is super easy. I first printed out the star cards and laminated them for reuse and durability in our centers. Then I printed out enough copies of the recording sheets so that all of my kids could have one.

This activity includes 12 star equation cards and a recording sheet for coloring in the answers.

Teacher Tip: For an ink and paper saving option, slide the recording sheets into dry erase pocket sleeves and provide dry erase markers for coloring the answers.

How to Play

To begin this math facts game, I typically play a round or two with small groups until the students get the hang of it on their own. However, my kids are pretty familiar with the set up of these types of center games so they were quick to catch on and eager to start pulling their own stars and solving equations!

Depending on your students, you could provide number lines or small manipulatives for them to use to count and solve.

What I love about this game is that it requires an extra level of concentration. A lot of our games so far have been straight addition or straight subtraction. This activity is a mixture of both!

This means that my kids must really look hard at the equation and determine if they are adding or if they are subtracting. Then, they solve the equation and color a star with the answer on their recording sheet.

Kids continue to pull stars and solve equations until the recording sheet is full.

We kept pulling stars and solving equations until our sheets were full!
