It’s almost that time of year… spring time! Spring is a fun time full of new life and fresh air. Another great part of spring is Easter. With Easter comes plastic eggs filled with treats from the Easter bunny. Well, don’t throw out these little plastic eggs – they are fantastic for crafts!

Today we thought we would make a fun little plastic egg frog. You can use this froggy to decorate or fill it up with a tasty treat for your friends and family.

Supplies:

Note: We did take the easy way out and used hot glue. It does make the job easier but it works just as well with regular white glue (just a little extra drying time).

Making Your Plastic Egg Frog

Grab your green craft foam. Trace on two connecting circles (it will look like a number 8 without the center holes). Make sure it is a good size for your plastic egg. Cut this shape out.

Now to the white craft foam. Cut out two equal circles. Make them slightly smaller than the green piece you just cut. Glue a white circle into each side of the green. These will be your frog’s eyes.

Draw pupils in each of the eyes with your black marker.

Set this aside for now. Take your green pipe cleaner and cut it in half. Glue one half onto the back side of the plastic egg (just below where the opening is).

Bend each side to make the frogs’ back legs.

Cut the other half of the pipe cleaner in half again. Glue each half on the front of the plastic egg on each side. These will be the frogs’ front legs.

Grab your green craft foam again. Cut out four little frog feet. Glue one to the end of each pipe cleaner.

Glue your eyes onto the front of the egg. Take your marker and add some details – we added a little nose.

Allow your little frog to dry and add a little surprise treat inside!

We hope you enjoy this little frog! It’s a great way to re-use those plastic eggs.

Another great critter to make is our Plastic Egg Bug – It’s adorable and so fun to make too!
