In my class, we are always working hard on building our number sense and phonemic awareness. We do TONS of things every day to become stronger readers and mathematicians! We often play games (because learning through games is fun!) and some of my favorite games to play are ones that need very little materials. These free Fall Alphabet and Number Cards were perfect for us to use this season. I could create different games and activities (including differentiated ones) all with just a set of alphabet cards and a set of number cards!

Fall Alphabet and Number Cards

These acorn alphabet cards definitely look like fall, and while cute is certainly not a requirement for learning, I find that my students love seasonal-themed things that look bright and colorful. So I am happy to provide that when I can!

I printed out the cards from the download, laminated them for sturdiness, and we were ready to go!

Some of my students used the cards as an ABC matching game, matching upper and lowercase letters.

Some students who were ready for blending and CVC words used them to build words.

You could also have them get a whiteboard or scratch paper and record the words they built for extra handwriting practice!

For our number cards, these too were laminated so that we could use them multiple times!

The cards go 0-20, but some of my students are still really mastering 1-10. So we practiced putting them in order.

They also made great counting cards! These clear stones were something I picked up at the dollar store – they are great for math manipulatives! Just stack them on or near the card to practice counting sets!

You could also use the number cards to start building equations, using manipulatives to help solve. They are also great for simple use as flashcards! So many ways to use and games to play with just simple cards!
