Work on number identification and counting to 20 with these fun and free Community Helpers Counting Puzzles!

Community Helpers Counting Puzzles

This counting puzzle set includes 8 puzzles with community helper scenes for the following community helpers: mail carrier, firefighter, doctor, dentist, librarian, teacher, veterinarian, and farmer.

Each puzzle starts on a different number (0-20) and counts by 1’s.

This is great practice for kids to learn concepts such as before and after, as well as build up their number recognition skills.

To play, students place the puzzle pieces in number order until they complete the full community helper scene.

How to Prep and Play

To get these puzzles ready, I printed them out and laminated them. You may wish to print on cardstock to keep them extra sturdy since they will be cut into smaller pieces.

After cutting out each puzzle, I cut each one into 10 strips by cutting on the light gray lines. Time to play!

These puzzles are easy and so fun! Students simply place the puzzle pieces in number order until they complete the full community helper scene.

Teacher Tip: To keep things organized and not mix up all 80 pieces at once, place each puzzle in its own envelope or zip-top bag. This way you can easily see which 10 pieces go together!

  1. I am working with 24 Indigenous farm workers children ( 2nd grade ) Do you make any puzzles where the numbers are out of order and they have to color, then cut and paste into correct order? Cutting 10 strips per puzzle for 24 ninos is time consuming –

    1. Hi Barbara,

That sounds like amazing work that you do! We don’t have any puzzles exactly like what you are describing but if you search “puzzles” on the site you will find lots of options for number recognition, counting, and more. 🙂

  2. The download link for the community helpers puzzles loads a fall roll and sort game. I love you stuff but please fix this. I already have the fall roll and sort and really need some community helper stuff. The same thing is happening with your community helpers Bingo game on the Letters of Literacy page.
